On the 6th of June the Light Of Faith Youth Group (L.O.F) of St Zaia's Cathedral held a combined Sunday mass and a picnic at Schoenstatt Shrine.

Schoenstatt  Shrine is a church founded in 1914 by Father Joseph Kentenich, located in Mulgoa. The shrine is approximately 40 minutes drive from St Zaia's Cathedral and is set in  a rural area with beautiful bush scenery for viewers to gaze upon.

On this joyful day, approximately more than 300 people were present which included 60 people from the city who came to experience this new event. The day began with a Sunday Mass performed by Father Emmanuel who was assisted by fellow deacons in the hall provided by Schoenstatt Shrine. His eminence Mar Yako attended on the day as a special guest and was very pleased with the whole event.

Following the mass, the L.O.F youth hosted an open buffet catering all attendants with a bbq sizzle.

This event provided an opportunity to bring the older and younger generations closer together. Many of the older generation were pleased to see their youth working hard as a team. This event demonstrated that our generation is capable, and is working towards righteous goals  that spread God’s love. This was a reassuring sign for the adult generation that the youth are the future of our faith.

One of L.O.F’s aims is to bring joy and happiness, whilst building up our faith through the guiding words of God. Through this event the LOF team was able to achieve this goal. The event brought the community closer together, and allowed people to hear the words of God in a beautiful

new environment.

Just a question... why is Fr. Emmanuel performing the mass the Western Catholic way (ex-Vatican II), facing the congregation? This is scandalous!

The Church used was a Catholic Church, that is the way the Catholic Church sets up their Altar.

Whether we face the East or the West, the Lord Jesus will hear our prayers because he is everywhere.

Christ does not look at which direction you are facing, Christ looks at which direction your heart is facing.

I believe what our brothers in Christ the Catholic Church have done for us on that day by opening their hearts first before opening their Church doors for us was what Jesus died for and that is LOVE.

God Bless Everyone

The Ancient Church of the East split from the mother church objecting to celebrate with all other Western Christian denominations. Fine! But today they look more catholic than the Catholic themselves. The Patriarch even wears their red hat, and sound more like catholic. What a hypocrisy!

Sonia, why be so negative. Our focus was on the Youth group and the awesome work they are doing in our community. What happened 60 years ago is the past, and hopefully they will unite in the near future. Lets support our churches and their youth.

If we dwell on history we will never move forward and achieve the goal of uniting in faith for our love Jesus...no one ever moves forward in life by looking back, you will trip and fall...The aim is Faith and being with Christ, we dont judge out love for people on what traditions people agree on or what colour your wearing which represents your faith, we are all soldiers and children of Christ...yeah good on you Margaret, our Assyrian Community needs more positive people like you full of love, hope and faith...
